We are delighted to announce we have been awarded the GM #LetGirlsPlay Biggest Ever Football Session award for 2023/24! The event takes place every year on the 8th March, International Women’s Day, and is organised by England Football to encourage as many girls as possible to play football.
On the day, Miss Pennells organised a football packed day across the whole school! Year 1 to Year 6 took part in a 30 minute football session run by our PE lead. These sessions included a football related warm up drill, dribbling and shooting, penalty shootout and match play for Year 4, 5 and 6. Children in Nursery and Year 1 took part in fun football activities during their free play.
We had professional footballer Lewis O’brien and Football Beyond Borders Ambassador Katie Halligan provide us with videos explaining the importance of this initiative and their own experiences within the game . They also answered questions sent in from our children! Thank you both!
