Helping your child at home
Homework will be set every week on Seesaw to be completed by the following week. Children will receive spellings, mental maths, grammar and another piece of work each week. There will be a spelling test and a mental maths test every week. Please encourage your child to ask in school for further explanation of their homework activities if they don’t understand, before it is due in.
Your child should also read every day, in addition to homework. Please discuss what you child has read and then record the text in their Reading Record. You can also include any comments about their reading. Your child can also be encouraged to read other things, e.g. newspapers, comics, magazines, library books, etc. which can also be recorded.

Extra Curricular
From Year 3 onwards, children are offered the opportunity to learn a brass instrument and play as part of the school band. Children also have the opportunity to join our school choir which involves numerous performances across the wider community over the course of the school year.
Routines and Reminders
Children will need their reading books, reading records and book bags in school everyday.
Reading Books will go home everyday.
PE kits which are clearly labelled with your child’s name are also required everyday.
Homework will be sent every Friday.
Extra Curricular
As a part of our enrichment curriculum, Year 3 children will learn how to play competitive games such as UNO, get a chance to explore the world of drama and even finger knit!
School Trips
To link to our local history topic, the Co-Operative, children will have the opportunity to visit the first Co-op on Toad Lane, Rochdale and explore what life was like in Victorian times.
Our Science and Industry trip gives children the chance to explore how times have changed and explore the importance of scientific advancements.
