Multiplication check
All children in year 4 are required to take part in the statutory multiplication Check. This check will test the children’s multiplication knowledge under timed conditions. Children will be supported throughout year 4 with their multiplication knowledge and are also encouraged to practice their times tables outside of the classroom wherever possible. There are some links you may want to access to support your child with their multiplication knowledge and skills.
Helping your child at home
Homework will be sent every week on Seesaw to be completed by the following week. Children will receive spellings, mental maths, grammar and another piece of work each week. There will be a spelling test and a mental maths test every Friday. Please encourage your child to ask in school for further explanation of their homework activities if they don’t understand, before it is due in.
Your child should also read every day, in addition to homework. Please discuss what you child has read and then record the text in their Reading Record. You can also include any comments about their reading. Your child can also be encouraged to read other things, e.g. newspapers, comics, magazines, library books, etc. which can also be recorded.
