Nursery

At St Andrew’s we have a beautiful Nursery which is the perfect setting for any young child to develop, have fun and make new friends. By joining our Nursery your child will become familiar with our values and learning environment meaning they are set to succeed in Reception class and beyond!

By being part of the Watergrove Trust, your child will receive outstanding support that is provided by our community of schools as well as benefitting from higher priority access to Wardle Academy.

We welcome Nursery applications, and visits, any time of the year but in order to secure a place, please note the application dates below.

Helping your child at home

In Nursery, children are encouraged to share their learning and experiences at home with their teachers through Tapestry. If your child has been for a day out somewhere e.g. at the park, achieved something or made something special at home, visited family and friends, post photos on Tapestry to encourage them to talk about it to their friends.

Tapestry

In Early Years, we use Tapestry which is an online system of recording your child’s learning in Nursery and at home. A massive advantage of this system is that you can instantly add your own comments to entries, add your child’s home learning and you can show your child’s online book to members of the family. Home learning activities will also be uploaded.

Routines and Reminders

In the Early Years, the children have the opportunity to learn outside the classroom. Please provide a warm, waterproof coat and wellies for your child to wear. Wellies can be left in nursery.

The children enjoy to learn through water play, sand play, painting and cooking in our mud kitchen. Learning in Early Years is sometimes messy but also very fun! Please provide spare clothes for your child in a bag that they can keep on their peg.
